The prophet Isaiah penned the following words in Isaiah 53:3: “He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him: he was despised, and we esteemed him not.” One of the major elements of the Christian’s walk with God is suffering.  Our first thought when we begin this walk is that every thing will be all right and there won’t be any more trouble.  When the trouble begins, not only are we disappointed, we tend to feel that God doesn’t know what we are going through.  One thing that is repeated in this passage of scripture is that Jesus was and is despised and rejected of men.  People hated him then as well as now.  As an example, when a person refuses to come to church, they are rejecting the Lord and not the person who invites them.  Therefore people will hate you as a Christian and the Lord knows it very well.  The passage also says that he is a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.  Therefore when there are sorrows and grief in your life the Lord knows it very well.  It also says that we hid as it were our faces from him.  There are those that will distance themselves from you when you experience trouble to avoid trouble themselves.  The Lord knows it well.  Therefore, when you are experiencing trouble in your life, there is an all knowing and powerful God, whose name is Jesus, who is able to help, comfort, and strengthen you while the storm is passing over.  You can be sure that he understands and will also bring you out at his appointed time.
